Am I A Writer of Color? If you call being Jewish, “of Color” then “Yes, I am.” At Brown U. in the 80’s I attended Black-Jewish dialogues. At the time, this sort of bridging-the-gaps between cultures was TOTALLY NEW and UNHEARD OF. An Accident

I don’t know how to say this, so I just will say it: I think I saw a guy die today…I was sitting in the Coffee Bean writing at about nine am and some people said, “Call 911. A guy was hit on his motorcycle!” We watched from inside as the busy intersection was blocked off just minutes later by two big, red fire trucks and a smaller paramedics vehicle. I could just see from my spot at the table – they pumped his chest, over and over. Then he was lifted on a stretcher and was gone. A bit later, the intersection was blocked off and there was a police car and officers directing traffic away. I think they do this when some has died to determine who was at fault, but they probably do this when someone was injured too, so maybe he is still alive . . . maybe he made it, this anonymous person whose name I do not know. He seemed so young, maybe 30, at most, but who knows. All we, who were watching, know is that he was riding a motorcycle and this is what can happen, even if you are wear

The Comment Challenge

The Comments Challenge changed my view of the Blog World. I flow more freely now in my comments and I discovered many fantastic new blogs. Also, very heartening were the comments popping onto my blog. Thank you too all the Bloggers and everyone participating! In addition to illustrating Vinnie and the Marching Bugs , I am writing a middle grade book about a 10 year old girl who moves to Africa with her family. I moved around a lot as kid and it was hard. I also learned to be flexible, to enjoy many different cultures and to appreciate adventure, newness and uncertainty. I also have a few picture books I am working on. Just stopped into Barnes and Noble at the Grove and they have a huge new section for Middle Grade Readers!!! Anyone know agencies or agents seeking multi-cultural work or work that is international in flavor?
